Detailed Travel Information on getting to the start at Fort William and returning from Inverness at the end of the walk will be supplied in your Information Pack, but the following may help with your planning:

Travelling to Scotland:

Travelling by air:

Nearest International Airports - Glasgow International, Glasgow Prestwick.

Domestic Airport - Inverness Airport

Easyjet and Ryanair are Budget airlines which fly into all 3 airports. There is an airport shuttle bus which runs from Glasgow International Airport into Glasgow city centre (journey time approx 25 mins).

A train service operates between Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Glasgow city centre (journey time 45 mins).

Easyjet flies into Inverness Airport from London Luton, London Heathrow and Bristol. It is then approximately a 2 hour journey by Citylink coach from Inverness to Fort William.

Travelling by rail:

GNER and Virgin Rail both operate train services to and from Scotland. There is one overnight train which travels directly from London Euston to Fort William. From Glasgow, First Scotrail operate services to Fort William and to other destinations around the country.

Travelling by road:

Citylink coaches operate bus services to Fort William. If you plan to travel by car we can advise you of secure car parking facilities in Fort William.

Travelling by ferry:

Superfast ferries operate services between Zeebrugge and Rosyth (near Edinburgh). It is then approximately a 3 hour drive to Fort William.

Getting to the Start of the walk at Fort William:

There are normally 3 trains from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Fort William each day and 1 on a Sunday. From Glasgow Buchannan Street Station there are regular Citylink coaches to Fort William throughout the day.

Returning from Inverness:

There are train services south to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. There are normally 3 services per day and 1 on a Sunday (journey time approx 3 hrs 45mins).

There are also regular Citylink coach services to Glasgow and Edinburgh (Journey time approx 4hrs).

Taxi Service:

If you'd rather travel to Fort William for the start of your walk and return from Inverness at the end by taxi, then we'd be delighted to provide you with a quote for this service. Return transfers are available from all Scottish Airports and Train Stations.
