The Northern Highlands, Inverness & the Isle of Skye

6 days / 5 nights

Highlights include Loch Lomond, Glen Coe, Ben Nevis, the Isle of Skye, Wester Ross, Loch Ness & Inverness.

 

The Mountains of Wester Ross

Day 1 - Pick up in either Edinburgh or Glasgow and travel to Fort William

Your tour begins by travelling north along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond into the Western Highlands & majestic Glencoe. Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis is your destination for your first night.

Day 2 - Isle of Skye

The journey along the 'Road to the Isles' takes you to the Glenfinnan Monument and viaduct (used in the Harry Potter films) and to the small fishing village of Mallaig. Your tour continues on a spectacular ferry journey across to the Isle of Skye.

Day 3 - Wester Ross

Visit romantic Dunvegan Castle, sample some fine Island whiskies or climb aboard a fabulous cruise which will take you into the heart of the Cuillin Mountains. Then head off the island and travel north west and into stunning Wester Ross on some of the most spectacular roads in Britain. Overnight in the pretty village of Gairloch in Wester Ross.

Day 4 - The Northern Highlands

Travel north along the coast & visit glorious Inverewe Gardens. Passing wonderful beaches & lochs you arrive into the pretty fishing village of Ullapool before continuing north through the spectacular scenery of Assynt with its surreal mountains all around you. Finally journey across country to the delightful small town of Dornoch on the Eastern sea-board.

Day 5 - Inverness

Head south to Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands & Urquhart Castle, on the banks of mysterious Loch Ness. Visit Culloden Moor, Britain's last battlefield & then travel back to Inverness for your final night and a tour of this delightful City.

Day 6 - Return to Edinburgh or Glasgow

Leave Inverness behind and travel south through the Highlands, perhaps stopping at Blair Castle, ancestral home of the Duke's of Atholl. Return via the Forth Road Bridge to Edinburgh or Glasgow.
