Talisker Distillery , Isle of Skye Day 1 - Oban
Travel to Oban and overnight in the beautiful hub of the Southern Hebrides.
Day 2, 3 & 4 - Isle of Mull
Your ferry departs Oban bound for the majestic Isle of Mull, your first island destination. Scotland is home to some of the most beautiful island retreats in the world, and Mull is one of them. Mountains rise from the sea to over 3000ft and there are lovely sandy beaches to enjoy. The island's capital Tobermory is well worth exploring as is the nearby island of Iona. Known as 'The Cradle of Christianity', Iona has been receiving pilgrims for 14 centuries. It really is a special place with impossibly turquoise waters, dazzling beaches and coves.
During your time on the island you could cross over to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, Britain's most westerly point & enjoy wonderful views to the small isles of Rum, Eigg & Muck.
We'd also highly recommend you enjoy a whale & dolphin watching trip - these wonderful experiences will allow you to view these magnificent creatures in the natural habitat and are available to suit everyone from families to salty sea dogs.
Day 5, 6 & 7 - Isle of Skye
Leave Mull behind and travel on the magnificent Road to the Isles and then it's by ferry over to your second island destination. The magical Isle of Skye is without doubt one of the most popular destinations in Scotland where the dramatic Cuillin Mountains and stunning seascapes combine with the warmest of Highland hospitality.
During your time on the island visit romantic Dunvegan Castle, sample some fine Island whiskies or climb aboard a fabulous cruise which will take you into the heart of the Cuillin Mountains.
The town of Portree, with its attractive painted harbour, is well worth a visit, as is a visit to the neighbouring Island of Raasay, with its stunning views back to the Cuillins. Skye is also dotted with craft shops and galleries for a bit of souvenir-hunting too.
Day 8 - Onward Travel
You have a choice of return options. Leave Skye and travel north up the Great Glen to Inverness and return your hire car at Inverness. Or travel south through spectacular Glencoe where you may wish to extend your holiday in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
