Self-Guided Walking -
Isle of Skye
Overview
A 6 day self-guided walking holiday amongst dramatic Mountains and a wandering coastline offering numerous outstanding walks with incredible views. |
The magical Isle of Skye is without doubt one of the most popular destinations in Scotland and the towering Cuillin Range dominates the landscape, its snow-capped peaks visible from most parts of the island. Enjoy a wonderful walking holiday amongst the dramatic Cuillin Mountains where stunning seascapes combine with the warmest of Highland hospitality.
There are plenty of walking opportunities throughout the island, from the eerie Old Man of Storr and the dramatic cliffs of the Quirang on the northerly Trotternish Peninsula, to the neighbouring Island of Raasay, with its stunning views back to the Cuillins.
The town of Portree, with its attractive painted harbour, is well worth a visit, as is historic Dunvegan Castle and Gardens in the north-west. Skye is also dotted with craft shops and galleries for a bit of souvenir-hunting too. |

Walking in The Cuillins
The Mountains of the Black and Red Cuillin dominate the landscape of Southern Skye and the Black Cuillin is visibly the most impressive mountain range in the British Isles. Unless you are an experienced walker or mountaineer we would recommend that you hire the services of a local guide to climb these rugged and dramatic peaks. Routes in the Black Cuillins are more akin to mountaineering than walking or hiking and the Information Pack we provide includes contact details for locally-based guides.
